![]() I am burning through this severance check very quickly haha. What exactly is multichannel? Is this meant to be used for surround sound? Should I stick to stereo and mono for drums?īetween the apollo twin and a kemper stage profiler that just arrived a few minutes ago. Last night, I freezed some stuff to multichannel. Except, I have my rack toms and floor tom separate channels, and I do these in mono. I have always freezed most things to stereo. But that is not possible because the UAD plugins will be disabled if I'm using too much DSP.Īlso. How do I deal with this? With all the tracks bleeding into one another, it almost seems like I can't really freeze them unless I freeze everything all at once. ![]() For example, if I freeze the overheads before I freeze kick, snare, hihat, or toms, then any mixing I do does not come through to the overheads. I have realized that by not freezing everything at once, it totally messes things up. I have had to mix 2 or 3 tracks, then freeze them before mixing the rest. So, now I'm back to having to freeze everything almost every step of the way. Stuff like the API vision channel strip, some Neve preamps, and the culture vulture are just ridiculously demanding on DSP. I have recently started using some UAD plugins that are massive DSP hogs. I don't have any issues with my computer lagging or freezing up. My Reaper sessions run SO much more smoothly now. My PC has subpar CPU processing, so I was really looking forward to offloading the plugins to the DSPs. I recently stumbled upon a killer deal on a used apollo twin, and I couldn't resist. Then I do a bit of mixing on the drum bus/master folder before freezing that too. Usually, once I'm done mixing every track, I will go ahead and freeze those. I always output to multiple tracks so that I can mix all the mics separately. ![]() I've been using superior drummer in Reaper for about a year now. ![]() I need some help when it comes to freezing tracks after they've been mixed. This may be more of a question about superior drummer and UAD plugins, but I'm working within Reaper. ![]()
